Milton Park Construction Underway

Saturday, October 4, 2025

Construction has officially begun at Milton Park, bringing exciting changes to a beloved community space. Earlier this year, the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners approved the final design concept for the park's highly anticipated renovation. This milestone followed months of gathering community input through public meetings, polling, and engagement sessions to ensure the redesign aligns with the neighborhood's vision.

The planning process saw strong public participation, with residents attending meetings on February 4 and April 4 to share ideas and priorities for the project. During the April meeting, initial design concepts were unveiled, and community members had the chance to vote on their favorite. The nature-inspired Woodland play structure emerged as the clear winner, receiving overwhelming support from 78% of voters.

The approved redesign will expand the playground area by 65 square feet--a modest 2% increase--while carefully minimizing the removal of trees to meet current safety standards. New trees will be planted in Milton Park and nearby locations.

The Park District awarded the construction contract to Hacienda Landscaping, and the project is progressing as planned. Staff hopes to complete construction before winter sets in.
